When the host cities for the World Cup 2014 were picked it is no surprise that Sao Paulo (Saint Paul) the key financial city in Brazil was chosen! Sao Paulo is the capital of the state of Sao Paulo. It is the largest city in South American and one of the largest in the world!
It is also one of the most ethnic diverse cities in Brazil many different ethnic neighborhoods and large populations of people of Italian, Japanese, and Lebanese descent. I once read that Brazil has the largest population of Japanese living outside of Japan and many of them live in Sao Paulo. All of these factors plus more as we will see later make it a very influential world class city and a very interesting host!
A Brand new Stadium – The Arena de Sao Paulo!
Talking about Brazil and Football, Sao Paulo was the City where Brazilian Football began! It has several football clubs; Sao Paulo, Corinthians, Palmeiras, Portuguesa, and Juventus. The rivals Sao Paulo, Corinthians and Palmeiras are three of Brazil’s strongest football clubs.
One of the most popular teams is Corinthians and they have never had a sufficient arena to play in. So the new Stadium, The Arena of Sao Paulo will be constructed for this very popular team and as a host of the first World Cup 2014 opening game as well as five others.

• Dine at the Terraço Italia Restaurant on the top of the 46 story building Edifício Italia in the center of Sao Paulo and you will enjoy great food and the skyline of the city for as far as the eye can see!
• Or pick one of the 11,999 other restaurants to enjoy.
• Ibirapuera Park
• Many great world class Shopping Centers
Well there you have it you can arrive at the International airport of Guarulhos catch the opening World Cup game and then enjoy the night life, restaurants, shopping and sites of one of the largest cities in the world!
